TESTIMONIALS
Booking the right speaker is important, I get it! Of course it’s useful to see who they’ve spoken to before, but what matters most is how valuable the talks are for attendees.
Here’s a collection of feedback and comments shared by the people that have attended one, or more, of my talks.

“It was one of those sessions that genuinely shifts how you think. What made it land wasn't just the theory. It was hearing Matt describe, first-hand, the everyday friction that poorly considered colour choices create – from misreading data visualisations to losing critical context in news graphics. That lived experience cuts through in a way that guidelines alone never quite do. Personal perspectives like Matt's are hard to replicate with a checklist. If your team works with visual content, I'd strongly recommend inviting Matt to speak with them. Thanks Matt – really valuable.”

As someone managing and working with visual journalism teams, the session felt especially relevant, particularly the thoughtful discussion on balancing brand identity, design, and accessibility while continuing to innovate in how we present complex information.
Huge thank you Matt Roberts for such an insightful session. I’d definitely recommend hearing Matt speak if your team works with design and visual storytelling.Princess Irede Abumere, Senior Editoral lead, at BBC World Service

“This was a very informative session that opened my eyes even more for how many people are colorblind. Hearing firsthand of the daily challenges of colorblind people will go into my design decisions going forward. Some interesting true/false questions at the end too.
Thanks for the presentation, Matt.”

“Uplifting experience to see that someone with a visual disability can succeed in web design. I've learned that 1 in 12 men is colourblind and will integrate that knowledge in every web interface I will work on from now on.”

“The strength of the presentation was Matt’s openness in sharing his lived experience. As a designer, I found it especially valuable to learn about his pain points—charts being a clear example—but even more so his insights on color legibility. He explained how certain color combinations, like red overlapping green, can be difficult to distinguish, whereas separating them with a neutral color improves readability. The session was also timely, as I’m currently helping staff build their accessibility knowledge, and color contrast is one of the key modules we’re reviewing.”

“I like how the speaker conveyed the pros the cons of being a color blind designer. He made his talk light and for me, he was able to give the message that, despite some drawbacks of his disability, it is not really a total hindrance for him to do his work.”
Attendee, Wordpress Accessibility Day 2025 -
“It was helpful to have a personal experience explained about colourblindness and the tools to help designers make their products more accessible. I am familiar with colourblindness tools and colour palettes, so I found it to be more interesting to hear about Matt's story than the development. Wonderful presentation for those just learning about it!”
